Picture the United States of America as a whole. Everyone being on the same mindset of growth, instead of fixating on giving up; could lead our country in a boundless direction. As I did this week’s assignment of educating myself on mindsets, I learned the difference in-between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. I watched videos and read a few articles. A link actually took you to a course in mindsets. I found Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset that helped me identify the differentiation of the two.

Growth Mindset- A growth mindset across our nation could shape our county for future generations.  We should teach our children that the brain is like a muscle and we can keep working at it to become a more intellectual society. An individual with a growth mindset would see struggles and challenge themselves through it. The end result is the person of a greater confidence. That person will work harder in school to gain knowledge. Growth mindsets encourage you to make mistakes, learn, and grow for the future.

Fixed Mindset-This is a believing that you are born with the intellectually capacity that you will die with. This person will avoid asking questions to save face for some image persona that our county struggles with. Individuals will quit and give up when approached with tough times and truly believe that they cannot figure out the answer. Scientists have even did a study in Growth Mindset: Studies Showing the Brain is Malleable that show people identified with this mindset find out they are wrong, and their brain shuts down when the correct answer is given!!! WHAT???

So with the positivity presented in the first part and the negativity expressed in the second part obviously shows my stand point. I am growth mindset all the way. I show this in the way I learn, but never knew there was scientific research that has named it. I have always been a good student; absorb everything from not only from education, but also my environment. Book smart was always a plus for me, but I have been more passionate about having street knowledge as well.

Maintaining such a gift that I believe God blessed me with will not be a struggle. No other way do I know for my mind, as I wish many more in our country would believe this truth in this as well. Learning from this assignment that Neuroplasticity exists and challenging the brain will make it grow, I will continue to challenge my mind as I live.

I love this and also agree with you about you having a growth mindset. I love your enthusiasm in class. I feel as though you are definitely not shy and would voice your opinion and hopefully you can rub off on me lol.♥
